What you need to know
Allowed: other springs, modified original springs, spacers between the spring and its support, changed bump stops, replaced or modified torsion bars, and replaced or modified struts and McPherson struts.
Only a recognised installer may lower your car.
He gives you an installation certificate and a validation report, and both are mandatory vehicle papers.
After lowering, the car must be inspected again before it goes back on the road, at an inspection centre for post-accident inspection (Keuring Na Ongeval).
They check that the distance between the front and rear wheels changed by at most 2%, the wheel cover, the free space around the wheels, the road contact, the position of lights, reflectors, plate and tow bar, and the ground clearance (at least 11 cm).
They also measure the wheel geometry.
You get a lowered vehicle stamp on your inspection certificate and registration certificate.
Fitting air suspension (air ride) is not allowed.
Fitting or modifying stabiliser bars is also on the Flemish list of things that are not allowed.
